Board of Directors

Sam Chidoka
Chairman
Sam has over 23 years experience in Banking, Capital Markets, Mergers & Acquisitions and Financial Advisory Services. He began his Investment Banking career at the Capital Markets Group of NAL Bank Plc in 2002.
Sam has worked on numerous high profile transactions, raising in excess of $1billion for various corporate and sub-sovereign institutions.
He holds a BSc. Degree in Business Management from the University of Nigeria Enugu Campus and an MBA in Finance, from the University of Lagos.
He has attended a number of executive courses: Lagos Business School - Chief Executive Program and IESE Business School, Barcelona Spain - Advanced Management Program. Sam is currently a doctoral student at the Lagos Business School.
Sam is the Managing Director/CEO Anchoria Advisory Services Limited.

Esther Ugwu
AG. Managing Director
Esther is a seasoned financial services professional with over 12 years of progressive experience in Sales, Business Development, and Relationship Management across leading institutions in Nigeria’s investment and financial services landscape. She brings a proven track record of driving revenue growth, deepening client relationships, and delivering strategic investor engagement initiatives.
Most recently, Esther served as the Executive Director of Business Development & Investor Relations at Anchoria Asset Management, where she was instrumental in shaping and executing the firm’s growth strategy, leading capital-raising efforts, and strengthening relationships with institutional and high-net-worth investors. Prior to this, she was a Relationship Manager at Chapel Hill Denham, one of Nigeria’s foremost investment banks, where she managed key client portfolios and facilitated tailored investment solutions.
Her earlier experience includes roles within the Bonds Unit at UBA Trustees, where she supported fixed income portfolio structuring and compliance; and Team Lead, Customer Service at United Capital Plc, where she led client engagement initiatives and service delivery excellence. She began her career in financial services as an Investment Advisor at AIICO Capital Limited, where she developed a strong foundation in investment product distribution and client acquisition.
Esther’s core competencies span Financial and Investment Advisory, Wealth and Portfolio Management, Investor Relations, Customer Experience Strategy, and Client Relationship Management. Her cross-functional expertise and deep market insight have enabled her to consistently deliver value to both clients and institutions.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Lagos State University and an MBA from Obafemi Awolowo University, with a focus on business strategy and financial management.

Jethro John
Executive Director Treasury & Operations
Jethro brings over 15 years of experience across Asset Management, Treasury Management, Fixed Income Securities Trading, and Business Development within the financial services sector. Prior to this role, he served as Head, Treasury & Fixed Income at Anchoria, where he led the firm’s Fixed Income strategy and Treasury Management.
His areas of specialization include Securities Trading, Treasury Management, Financial Market Analysis, Fixed Income Structuring, Investment Management, and Business Development. Jethro holds an M.Sc. in Corporate Finance from the University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom, and a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria.

Halima Buba
Non-Executive Director
Halima is currently the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of SunTrust Bank Nigeria Limited. A seasoned Banker with over 22 years’ cognate experience obtained from working in Allstates Trust Bank, Zenith Bank, Inland Bank Plc, Oceanic Bank Plc and Ecobank Nigeria Limited. She is one of the few women to have attained that height as an MD in the industry.
Prior to her appointment to Sun Trust Bank Ltd as MD/CEO, Halima is a Co-founder and former Executive Director in Taj Consortium, an organisation of young dynamic technocrats and financial advisory experts. She sits on the Board of several reputable Institutions, including those of Anchoria Asset Management Company Limited as Non-Executive Director, and as the Chairman, Board of Directors - NSIA Umuahia Diagnosis Centre (NUDC). She was also a member of the Board of the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) as a Non-Executive Director and a Director on the Board of Adamawa Homes and Savings Ltd. She holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Business Management from the University of Maiduguri and an MBA from the same University. Halima is an Alumnus of the Lagos Business school Senior Management Programme.
She is an Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants and Honorary Senior Member of Institute of Directors of Nigeria (IoD). Halima is a Champion of youth and women empowerment, and consistently makes philanthropic contributions towards the girl child Education.

Mobolaji Adewumi
Non-Executive Director
Mobolaji Adewumi is a Non-Executive Director at Anchoria Asset Management Limited. He is currently the Managing Director of Abbey Mortgage Bank Plc. Mobolaji is an experienced professional with a deep knowledge of the financial services industry.
He possesses an extensive working knowledge of sub-Saharan Africa. He obtained his MBA (specializing in Finance) from Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, UK, and his BSc in Management and Accounting from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. Bolaji became a Chartered Accountant (ACCA) in 2007. He worked for KPMG as Audit Senior between 2006 to 2009 before joining UBA from 2009 to 2011 where he worked in various capacities, particularly in Finance coordinating the Finance Operation of the Bank in over 19 African Countries.
Mr. Adewumi also worked for Africa Finance Corporation, Egon Zehnder International London Office, and Fairtrade International before joining Aso Savings and Loan Plc as Special Adviser to the MD/CEO & Head, Strategy between 2012 to 2015. Bolaji Adewumi later moved to First Bank of Nigeria Limited, where he was Special Assistant to the MD/CEO between 2016 to 2019 and later joined VFD as the Group Executive Director, Finance from April 2019 to March 2020.
His work experience also includes six years’ service in the Nigerian Army. Mobolaji is a Co-Founder of Premium Green Group. Premium Green owns significant stake in entities such as VFD Group, Dynasty Real Estate and Germaine Automobile Premium Green owns significant stake in entities such as VFD Group, Dynasty Real Estate and Germaine Automobile.

Azubike Emodi
Non-Executive Director
Azubike is a financial services professional with experience in retail & commercial banking, strategic planning & process improvement, financial analysis & modelling and fund management. He started his career with Zenith Bank Plc, then Royal Bank of Canada before joining VFD Group in 2016.
He served as the Managing Director of Nigeria’s foremost digital bank, Vbank, before his appointment as Managing Director of Anchoria Asset Management in 2021. He later assumed the role of Managing Director at Herel Limited.
He is an Associate Member of Chartered Institute of Bankers, Canada Securities Institute and Securities and Exchange Commission.
Azubike is currently the Managing Director, Afriland Properties Limited.

Olufunmilayo Ayanbadejo
Non-Executive Director
Olufunmilayo Ayanbadejo is the CEO of Patrick Ayanski a leading fashion and textile company in Nigeria and Creative Director of, Ayanski Fabric UK. Olufunmilayo has served for over a decade as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Anchoria Investments & Securities Limited (Nigeria) and was appointed a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Anchoria Asset Management Limited (Nigeria) in 2021.
She has over two decades of experience conducting business within Africa, the UK, and Middle East. She started her career as an Account Assistant with Henderson Croswaithe (Now part of Investec Group) a private stockbroking firm in London in 1998. She went on to work as SAP FI/CO Consultant with Logica121 Consulting UK from 1999 to 2000. Subsequently she worked at Glaxo Welcome and T Mobile UK and at Yell Reading, UK as a Lead Project QA Test Analyst. She was ERP Program Test Manager with GE Healthcare, UK until 2006.
She was Founder and Creative Director at Milliner Warehouse, UK a leading millinery supplier in the UK between 2003 and 2010. Olufunmilayo mentors several female entrepreneurs of African and Caribbean heritage at Jesus House, UK. She also mentors at the Sandbox Project, Canada & Nigeria. Olufunmilayo holds a B.Sc. in Business Management from University of Hull, UK and an M.Sc. in IT Management from the Sheffield Hallam University, UK. She holds an ISEB Foundation and Practitioner Certificate in Software Testing and has acquired SAP FI/CO Certification from the UK.

Adeniyi Adenubi
Non-Executive Director
Adeniyi is a financier and an investor with more than 15 years’ experience in Institutional and Corporate banking, Investment management and consulting.
His vast experience in the financial sector comes from working in Private equity, Venture Capital, and Financial Advisory in some of the top firms in London, and as an Executive Director in VFD Group in Lagos.
He serves on the boards of several companies with total valuation in excess of $2b. He is the Chairman of Anchoria Asset Management, Director at VFD Microfinance Bank and a Non-Executive Director on the boards of PiggyVest Ltd, InterSwitch-E’Clat Ltd, ArtSplit Global and many others. Niyi also serves as a Trustee of several charitable organizations including the Guest Artist Studio (A Yinka Shonibare foundation). He is a Harvard Business School alumnus of the Owner President Management program.

Ume James Okorukwu
Non-Executive Director
Mr. Ume James Okorukwu was born on 19th December, 1980 hails from Atan Abam in Arochukwu L.
G. A. of Abia State. He attended Community Primary School, Atan Abam and Ovukwu Abam
Secondary School, Atan Abam. He had his Senior Secondary Certificate in 1999 at Boys Technical Collage, Afaraukwu, Umuahia. In year 2000, he was admitted into the University of Nigeria, Nsukka
where he obtained a B. Sc. in accounting in 2005. In 2013, he did his PGD in Education with National
Teachers Institute (NTI). In 2017 he had his M. Sc. in Business Administration with National Open University of Nigeria. He also possesses ACA from Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria
(ICAN) in 2022 and current awaiting induction into Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.
He did his compulsory one-year NYSC with the State Board of Internal Revenue, Keffi in Nasarawa
State from 2007 to 2008.
He started his career job with First City Monument Bank, Abuja in 2009 and in 2010 he joined
Babcock University where he worked as an Accountant from 2010 to 2017. He later joined Centre for
Health Education, Economic Rehabilitation and Social Security (CHEERS) as Finance Manager from
2017 to 2019. James further proceeded to Catholic Caritas Foundation of Nigeria (CCFN) where he
currently works as an Accountant. He also owns some business which includes, Eliana Supplies and
Imports Ltd, and He is also the GMD of Unubiko Tailoring, Abuja.

John Okonkwo
Non-Executive Director
John has over 20 years of experience in finance, audit, risk management, sustainability services, and corporate governance.
Previously, he was the Chief Financial Officer at Heirs Holdings Limited and a Manager in the Internal Audit, Risk & Compliance Services division at KPMG. John is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and an alumnus of the Advanced Management Programme at the Lagos Business School.
He currently the Executive Director, Finance & Risk, VFD Group.

Olufemi Badejo
Non-Executive Director
Olufemi is a dynamic and results-oriented diplomat and business leader
with over a decade experience in international relations, trade and
investment. He has proven expertise in enhancing global presence,
facilitating strategic investments and leading high-stake negotiations.
Femi is adept in fostering strong government and corporate relationships
across multiple continents with a vision to further Africa’s economic and
diplomatic engagement globally.
He is currently the Trade Commissioner of the Republic of the Vanuatu to ECOWAS States.
